Michael Sun
Michael is a graduate of School of Music, The University of Auckland, majoring in Classical Performance Violin. He began learning violin at the age of 6 and has actively played in orchestras from the age of 12 beginning with Fushun Youth Symphony. His violin teachers have included Professor Sutang Li (who was, in return, taught by V. D. Trachtenberg, Leopold Auer’s student), Professor Yanping Jin (Shenyang Conservatory of Music) and Yuri Cho (Auckland University & APO first violin). He has multiple years of experience educating and coaching children focus on creating an enjoyable learning environment. His qualifications include BA, PGDipMus, MB, Orff Teacher Education in Elemental Music and Dance. His goal is to contribute to the community as a performer and mentor, by sharing creative ideas through classical music.
Jasmine Pickston
Jasmine teaches the violin on Saturday mornings and Tuesday afternoons
Jasmine is a passionate musician who seeks to spread the joys of classical music. She has been playing for over 12 years, with 5+ years of tutoring experience in group and individual lessons. Jasmine takes an individualised approach towards teaching, ensuring that each student understands a concept, as well as working with the group collectively. She has played in numerous ensembles, such as the National Youth Orchestra, as well as chamber groups. Jasmine was awarded a Violin Diploma in 2019. (DipABRSM).
